April Board Retreat Covers Range of Issues
In April 2013, the Women’s Guild Board of Directors attended a daylong retreat to examine policy changes and select a new fundraising project. In addition to reviewing and voting on a new strategic plan (see story below), the members decided on new committee processes aimed at increasing membership, enhancing social engagement, and building upon Women’s Guild’s successful fundraising efforts.
After lunch, fundraising came to the fore, as Cedars-Sinai department heads and lead investigators presented their projects to make the case for what should be the beneficiary of the next Women’s Guild pledge. Shlomo Melmed, MD, senior vice president for Academic Affairs and dean of the Medical Faculty, and Arthur J. Ochoa, senior vice president for Community Relations and Development, lent their counsel as the board carefully considered each suggested area. A unanimous vote was eventually cast for simulation and training.
