Charles R. Pollock Memorial Lobby Dedication

Friends and family gathered for an intimate memorial dedication for Charles R. Pollock, whose generosity funded the Women’s Guild Lung Institute seventh-floor lobby in the Saperstein Critical Care Tower.

"Chuck" was among the most sought-after designers of his time, and his famous shop anchored the transformation of “Melrose Place.” The opening of his store at this location launched the area as one of the great havens for some of the most famous antique and antique reproduction companies on the West Coast.

While running his shop, Charles continued to accept interior design projects from some of Hollywood’s most celebrated stars. He had the distinct pleasure of working with some of the world’s leading designers and such clients as Marion Davies, Lee Marvin, Paul Newman, Jack Lemmon, Henry Fonda, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and our own Beverly Firestein.

Much of Charles Pollock’s success in life was attributable to his big heart. He was a great friend to Cedars-Sinai, Women’s Guild, AIDS Project Los Angeles, and countless other institutions in the Los Angeles area.

Both his life and his legacy are a testament to philanthropy.
